Sowmiya, a 16-year-old from Ambedkar Nagar in Erode district, faced significant financial challenges due to her parents’ limited income as sanitary workers. With two elder sisters, the family’s expenses often exceeded their earnings, forcing Sowmiya to consider finding work to help out.

While searching for a job, Sowmiya encountered a READ organization staff member who informed her about a scholarship scheme for girls. Encouraged by this opportunity, Sowmiya joined the READ women’s group, which focuses on empowering women. Through the scholarship, she received ₹5,000 to enroll in a typewriting class.

Now, Sowmiya is able to continue her studies and acquire new skills, thanks to the support from READ organization. She expresses her heartfelt gratitude for their assistance in brightening her life and providing her with opportunities for a better future.
